Doctor Hoang Anh Tuan –Deputy Director of the Department of Atomic Energy made a speech which clearly mentioned meanings and importance of the IAEA’s mission among many activities of the Project on Technical Cooperation on “Developing the nuclear power infrastructure” which IAEA has supported Vietnam for the 2009-2011 period. Participating in the Workshop were IAEA’s officials, experts and professors coming from the world’s leading universities of the Russian Federation, the US, Japan, France, South Korea, the UK, Canada, Spain and United Arab Emirates together with representatives from Vietnam’s Ministries, branches and relevant agencies as Ministry of Education and Training, Ministry of Science and Technology (Department of Atomic Energy, Department of Radiation and Nuclear Safety, Vietnam Atomic Energy Commission), Ministry of Industry and Trade, Vietnam Electricity Group, Vietnam Institute of Science and Technology, the Office of State Steering Committee for Ninh Thuận Nuclear Power Project, Hanoi Poli-technique University, Natural Science University – Hanoi National University and Electricity University.
At the Workshop, participants have been presented by IAEA’s experts on experience in nuclear knowledge management, program on nuclear training of some countries, relations between education and training units and organizations using human resources (electric power companies, regulating agencies, industries). The Vietnamese side also presented a brief report on the implementation status of the Proposal on "Training and development of human resources in atomic energy field" and some contents relating to training in nuclear in Vietnam.
At the Workshop, Mr. Yanko Yanev –Head of IAEA’s mission emphasized roles and benefits of nuclear power, use of nuclear power in a responsible manner and especially paying attention to roles of nuclear knowledge management. He said that it would be impossible to implement the nuclear power program if there is no nuclear knowledge management right from the first stage and during the implementation process of the nuclear power program. Mr. Yanev also highlighted roles of close cooperation among industries, technical supporting organization, regulating agencies, and State management agencies with training units in the development of nuclear human resource in Vietnam.
Also within the framework of the mission, from November 9 to 16, 2011, IAEA’s mission would visit and working with agencies as Hanoi Poli-technique University, Natural Science University – Hanoi National University, Electric Power University, Đà Lạt University and Natural Sciences University – Ho Chi Minh City National University, Center for Nuclear Training under Vietnam Atomic Energy Commission, Đà Lạt Nuclear Research Institute on the nuclear training program. These are training units participating in the Proposal on “Training and development of human resource in atomic energy field” of the Ministry of Education and Training.
